Stove-top Honey Glazed Ham

The best part of the holiday season is joining together with friends and family to enjoy a wonderful feast. My family tends to enjoy ham more than turkey. Really, we like turkey too so I usually make a Honey Glazed Ham and this Slow Cooker Turkey Breast so we can have both.

This ham recipe is great because the glaze is really easy to prepare. We keep it simple with pineapple juice, honey and mustard for a sweet tangy sauce. I add just a touch of sugar to achieve that sticky syrup consistency. But, you can definitely omit the sugar if you prefer.

I’m confused. At the top you say Dijon mustard. In the recipe it says stone ground mustard. What is the difference and which did you use?

Hi Joanna, I used a stone ground dijon mustard. Really, your favorite type of mustard will work. Maybe just steer clear of plain yellow mustard. Happy Holidays!

Sure. The EXACT recipe has been online for over 5 years. You keep telling yourself and others its yours. I didn’t expect to see my comment on your website because its uncomfortable. People make mistakes but not saying “Gee I forgot to credit someone. Its a great recipe but I made it my own by ……” In graduate school you would be on academic suspension for plagiarism Merry Christmas to you also. .

People come up with similar recipes all of the time. A friend of mine was really upset when a cake recipe she came up with was brought to a party by another friend who called it “Better Than Sex Cake.” My friend did not know that better than sex cake already existed because she honestly came up with that same combination of ingredients in her own kitchen. Maureen, just RELAX and eat ham.

The glaze should not be applied until the final hour to 30 minutes, in order to avoid burning the sugars. What you're going to do with the glaze ingredients is just combine most of them into a paste, and then apply it to the ham. After that, the heat in your oven will take care of everything.
