Busan Museum of Contemporary Art (@moca_busan) Identity Design by@formlesstwins 🤝“Utilising Rhizome’s non-hierarchical and flexible connection structure to construct a design system that creates generative solidarity, the design identity reflects the museum’s regional and cultural context. Located in Eulsukdo, at the mouth of the Nakdong River, it is a treasure trove of ecological diversity. As such, the design identity seeks to evoke a sense of community that connects contemporaneity, art, nature, new media, humanity, and everything in between. The nomadic design system, which has been realized through technology and digital media, expands the design process’ spatial and temporal boundaries while simultaneously experimenting with the fluidity and ongoingness of identity. The exhibition <Museum Identity and Design> provides practical momentum for implementing potential design systems. A generative design system that utilizes digital connectivity induces the possibility of creative and collaborative visual interventions by viewers. As an intermediary design element, the circle(O) coalesces, disintegrates, and accumulates into multiple and complex visual identities. Additionally, its virtual sediments migrate and reproduce in real-time to other media in the exhibition. In the process of this circulation, the museum’s identity becomes not a past-completed, but an ever-changing, ongoing journey, expanding into a future-oriented, open-ended question that invites synesthetic reflection on our collective relationships.”Creative Direction • Design@formlesstwins@sangahakasha•@www_jae_ee) Web • Interactive Programming@doodlefingersSpace Design@zero_lab#type01#visualidentity#visualidentitydesign#branding#brandingdesign#graphicdesignstudio#graphicdesign#design

NEW ISSUE OUT NOW!In the last issue we looked at two different takes on the climate crisis, in this issue we move on to two polarised opposites; one story is about speeding up, the other is about slowing down. Both are viewed through a prism of art. We’ve found ourselves, and many of the people we talk to, increasingly looking to artists, not just for inspiration on colour and form, but also for insight into future design directions. So, this issue is very much dedicated to art and artists. They and designers are at the vanguard of the AI digital revolution which, as much as anything, evokes seismic philosophical questions about the nature of art, creativity and sentience. For some, as we explore in our story Hack, these new paradigms are as exciting as photography must have been at the start of the 20th century. For others, highlighted in Still Life, this technology stands as proxy for a dystopian age of human redundancy. We also report on directions from London Design Biennale, Art Basel, Design Miami/Basel, 3daysofdesign and Jerusalem Design Week. For thought provoking writing, informative reporting and inspiring design and colour directions, MIX 73 2025 Part Two is out now.#ColourHive #MIXMagazine #DesignDirection #Colourdirection #Design #Colour #DesignInspiration #2025Forecast #designtrends

Putting the magic of art in the hands of children in National Gallery SingaporeHave you been to an exhibit where you were given a card or a wristband and used it to trigger different interaction points? They are all powered by RFID/NFC technology which has become more prevalent in experiential exhibitions these days for good reason – with it, a passive exhibition can transform into an interactive experience when done right. And when we conceptualised 'A Brush with Forest Fire' for National Gallery Singapore last year, we wanted to do more with this technology. We wanted 'A Brush with Forest Fire' to be an immersive space where children can feel the magic of art in their hands. Taking cues fromsciencefiction writer Arthur C. Clarke's saying, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable frommagic," we wanted to make the RFID that powered the exhibition experience invisible so much so that it feels like magic for our little guests.Working closely with our partners at Make Studios, we developed an RFID-based gallery experience hidden within a 3D-printed paintbrush. Instead of a card or a wristband, children held on to these paintbrushes, and the gallery was their canvas. Through naturalistic actions like painting, dipping into paint tins and tracing, our little guests unleashed their inner artist to unlock magical surprises across the gallery. Daily Art Share:Collaborative art makingCould this add some creativity to a conference?Last week I was doing a day long workshop at the Pierhead building for Welsh Government, to help people appreciate the exhibition about the history of Cardiff Docks. We used the photos as a starting point to make more art, using a collage technique, then we added colour with pens and felt tips. As people visited the exhibition they were invited to help us make the work.It was a great way of working and afterwards I wondered what other situations this might work in. I think having something like this at a conference would be a really interesting way to help get their creative juices flowing for their thinking and just add something extra to an event. It requires very little set up- just paper, masking tape, glue sticks and pens.Let me know what you think.#conferences #creativity #engagement

How counter-mapping becomes part of the design politics?Re-designing Rivers explores how top-down processes of landscape design and territorial planning affect riverine communities and livelihoods, triggering local confrontations with the imposed designs and related forms of socio-material ordering. This project experiments with counter-mapping as a tool to make knowledge visible, rendering territorial understandings and representing the act of drawing as a political design project in the context of the contestations around large-scale hydraulic projects in the Yanuncay river in Ecuador. For more information about my project at#DDW2023, please check the following links:https://lnkd.in/eHre-eN8https://lnkd.in/eyqTXMM2

One of our project which started at TU Delft | Industrial Design Engineering was exhibited at The Dutch Design Week in the DREAM.DISCOVER.DESIGN exhibition in the month of October, 2023. Over 15,000 attendees interacted with The Personal Press, engaging in discussions and raising insightful concerns about the future.“The personal press” is a project where we question what will happen if AI could influence the content of news articles that define our perception of the world.Would this allow every individual to view the world through their own lens? Which makes us wonder, "What if what I see, is not the same as what you see?" To answer this question, we looked at was possible with technologies today and created The Personal Press. In essence, The Personal Press is a generative newspaper that tells you what you want to hear. You can create a reader profile by choosing the tone of voice and the style the article is written in.The Personal Press will then generate a real news article in return, altered to your personality. "The Personal Press" welcomes you to join the conversation and ask yourself "What if what I see, is not the same as what you see?" With Koen WeberNeslihan CanKim de Vrij

The Daily Perplexity - From #TheWrap - a GSG PublicationsGenerated from Perplexity.AI Pro.---The Getty Gallery has made a significant contribution to the open access movement by releasing nearly 88,000 art images into the Creative Commons, specifically under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. This release allows individuals to freely download, copy, modify, and use these images without any restrictions[1].This initiative is part of the Getty's Open Content Program, which began three years prior to the release of these images. Initially, the program made available 4,600 high-resolution images from the Getty Museum, and since then, the Getty has released over 100,000 more images through the program[2]. The Getty's commitment to open content extends beyond images to include digital publications, archival finding aids, and other educational resources. The Getty's approach to open content is informed by a desire to make their work as widely available and usable as possible while retaining the right to attribution. They have faced challenges in implementing open licenses, especially for projects that include third-party content or were conceived before the Getty fully embraced open content. Nevertheless, they have worked to overcome these challenges and support their open-access goals[2].The Getty's decision to release images under CC0 reflects a broader trend in the cultural sector towards increasing access to art and cultural heritage. This move is likely to have a significant impact on various fields, including education, research, and creative industries, by providing high-quality resources that can be used and repurposed without legal or financial barriers. The Getty's Open Content Program and the release of these images align with their mission to promote knowledge and understanding of the arts through digital access to cultural resources. It represents a shift in how the Getty, and other cultural institutions, manage their intellectual property in the digital age[2].In summary, the Getty Gallery's release of 88,000 art images to the Creative Commons is a landmark event in the open access movement, demonstrating a commitment to sharing cultural heritage with the public and enabling a wide range of uses for these valuable resources[1][2].Citations:[1] https://lnkd.in/gUgQ98PC[2] https://lnkd.in/gtWCdnyg[3] https://lnkd.in/gUjbrfdw[4] https://lnkd.in/gHQQsudg

Fazer aims to be the leading design magazine in the Portuguese language and a new active institution in the design field in Portugal. Directed byFrederico DuarteandVera Sacchetti, this magazine seeks to define the territories of agency of contemporary design through the voices of those who shape it.We rely on an extensive network of national and international collaborators, as well as partners who will allow us to address provocative topics and reach a wide audience through innovative and unexpected formats. The first 2 issues of Fazer will be edited and launched in the context of the Território exhibition cycle promoted byCulturgest and Fidelidade Arte. Conceived as an experiment in curating as edition and vice-versa, the exhibitions Fazer #1 and #2 will take place respectively at the Fidelidade Arte gallery in Lisbon and at Culturgest Porto. Artefacts evoked in each magazine issue will be placed in the gallery, rendering it as a vehicle of display and discourse. A complementary public programme convenes critical perspectives on recent results of design practice. Each exhibition concludes with the launch of the printed magazine. As an editorial and curatorial project, Fazer summons a new generation to read, write, think and act around the discipline of design. Our history starts now. With occasional exceptions in other languages we will be publishing, commenting and agitating solely in Portuguese.Subscribe to our newsletter and follow us here and on Instagram to stay up to date with our activities, partnerships and calls for submissions – such as original texts for the Afazeres section and student work for the Innovation section.📷 Sidul Açúcares, Santa Iria da Azóia, PortugalEstúdio Horácio Novais, sem data.© Col. I am confident that we can achieve our climate targets, but for this to happen we cannot just carry on "business as usual". Join us next week, during your lunch break, for an explorative discussion on the role of designers and architects in driving climate transition. We will explore the changing role of design and architecture, and how we can support our industry to achieve and move beyond the net-zero target. #VelvenoirInsightsDiscussing what the role of an art consultant is, in our opinion? And how can collectors, both experienced and at their first acquisition, benefit from such a collaboration? Alexandra sat down a while back with Carlotta, to talk about this important topic: "To me, an art consultant is someone who can wear different hats but always has the clients’ needs at heart and mind. Whether they are seasoned collectors or someone just starting out in the collecting journey, we strive to help them from concept to the final setup, including installation of the pieces. The key to building a successful collaboration is to understand different clientele and come up with specific solutions. Over the years, the experience gathered has shown us that there is never a one size fits all solution. That's why I founded @VELVENOIR, throughout our work we take care of every aspect related to the collection of artworks, from the acquisition to technical aspects, like framing and shipping. For example, we take full advantage of private views, or galleries and art fair visits, but we also implemented online viewing rooms and other digital mediums to help our collectors better visualize an art piece in a space, when unable to show them in person. The ultimate goal is to inspire people, showing them how contemporary art can help them express themselves and convey powerful messages. The key is to understand our clients' unique vision and offer them bold solutions to transform their vision into reality." What are you expecting from an art consultant when starting to collect contemporary art ? We would love to hear your thoughts on this. #BecauseArtMakesADifference#velvenoir #insights #artconsultant #contemporaryart #artcollecting #artcollector #kunstsammeln #role #job #statement #kunstberatung
